Since Adam was little, he has always has this fear. He hates the idea of ever being controlled, and so being held captive by anyone always has him paranoid. When he was younger and would annoy his older brother, Trent, Trent would threaten to lock him in the closet if he didn't leave things alone. Only once did Trent pull through with this threat, but the punishment only lasted for no more than ten minutes. Only 3 minutes while stuck in the closet Adam began to wail and cry loudly for his mother. Though he was afraid he was going to be caught, Trent let him out more out of sympathy for his little brother than out of guilt. The enclosed space does not have to be small either, like the closet was. Just the thought of being in a place, or even a situation, that he can't get out of, scares Adam to death.

To put it bluntly, gay people scare the shit out of Adam. He doesn't understand how a man could like another man... in that way. Once he had a nightmare of being a gay man. It made him feel guilty by the thought alone. His stomach turned in knots and a sour taste filled his mouth. whenever he remembers this dream, he tends to have the same symptoms and will go puke up his guts for the next hour. If he meets a gay or bisexual person, he will avoid them at all cost. But, aside from the aversion, Adam is curious about just how sick those people could be. Adam would like to think that he doesn't like homosexuals in the way that most other heterosexual boys do. He likes to think that he doesn't hate any one for being different or lesser than him. But, bottom line, the thought of gay men terrifies him.

Adam is a vain person, and this is one of the more vain of his fears. He is a very... er, sexual being, even if he's never had sex before. He likes to think of himself as the most sexiest beast ever (which he's far from.), and that no girl should be able to resist him. Just how they resist him, he hasn't figured out yet. But, he has been afraid of the night when he does lose his virginity, that he'll screw it up in one way or another, such as the above stated fear.
POSITIVES:
»good student - Though Adam definitely has his share of irresponsible ways, he is always serious when it comes to his school work. He may lose his focus from time to time if he's working on a project, but he eventually gets his work done. And, not only done, but of a satisfactory grade. He doesn't suck up to teachers, but he does try his hardest in most places. He does what's asked of him, but rarely anything more than that.
»memory - Adam has an excellent memory. He can recall facts with a snap of his hand. For his classes, he rarely has to study. Most of the time, if Adam concentrates long enough after seeing the item he needs to remember, and closes his eyes, he can imagine the item in detail. But also, Adam can recall events of his past, up until the age of 5 or so. This is especially used for his advantage, whenever he feels lonely, he can just think of his home back in Ashland.

Trent stuck up for Adam like a good older brother, but also could get irritated quickly with him. What are little brothers for?
By the age of seven, Adam's hearing was fading. His family was not unacquainted to disabilities, (Adam and Trent's father had been blind from the age of two up until the age of 18) and so Adam was sent in for several tests. It was finally concluded that Adam would need a hearing device in order to function properly. He used the hearing aid up until the age of 9, when he could hear on his own.
When Adam hit puberty, it hit him hard. It's still obvious in his personality how hard it hit him, because he's still the same. He adores women, and everything about them. He wants more than anything to have a girlfriend of his own, but more to have sex with than to have a girlfriend. Since he hasn't been able to pull that one off though (What a shock?) Adam has had to resort to his own means. As a practical joke one time, Trent told Adam that the female family friend, Lindsey, had a thing for him. It drove Adam insane, literally. Lindsey was in on the joke, which only helped to provoke Adam of course, when she flirted with him. It wasn't long that there was limited room left in his jeans, and he had her on the floor with his hands on her chest. Trent socked him good and hard in the face for that move.
When Adam turned fourteen, and his brother 18, Trent enrolled for the military, where he is now. The news hit the entire family hard, but no one like it did Adam. Adam had always been close to his brother, but hadn't been told of his brother's leaving until the night of his departure. He's still bitter toward his brother, and he talks to him, whenever he's alone. But, much more than talk to his other brother, he cries and shouts at the open air where he's supposed to be.
Adam showed signs of intelligence as he went through grade school, and finally when he turned fourteen and started high school, the guidance counselor suggested sending him to a more prestigious school to meet his needs. Adam didn't care where he went to school, as long as it had girls and video games. At Eddingborough, the girls are in short supply, but he'll have to manage.
