It had said, in the pamphlet given to his parents and that he'd been allowed to read over his mother's shoulder, that Eddingborough had an expansive library. Takeshi, being the natural bookworm, had been intrigued and doubtful all at once; surely some school didn't know the meaning of "expansive library." Before he'd been practically disowned and banned from entering the house, he'd had what could only be called a massive library, all to himself. Reading the books there had been what convinced him of his chosen path in life, but ever since he'd been kicked out he could only think of all those books with longing and remember what his brother had always told him.
With this "expansive" library at his disposal--for "studying", or so he'd tell anyone who asked--Takeshi could only hope it might, maybe, hold a candle to the library he was used to and remembered.
As he walked down the hall and pushed open the door, however, he realized that the library he remembered was nothing compared to this. Staring in awe at the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves covering the walls, he wandered in almost in a daze, humming happily to himself under his breath as he practically skipped to a bookshelf and began perusing the titles.
History. Science. Geography. The bright smile on his face wavered slightly as he tapped at the titles, dimming completely as he realized there was a complete lack of fiction books in this library. They actually expected him to study? How could they taunt him with all these books and then have none of the ones he wanted to read? He was half-tempted to slink out with his tail between his legs like a kicked puppy. He turned, starting to do just that, when his eyes caught on the name plates beside each shelf.
Oh. He was in the wrong section.
